Multiple purchase with NO problems whatsoever
I've purchased from JMB multiple times and have never had any issues with an order. You can't go wrong with free shipping on orders over $100, and the best prices (or close when you factor in shipping from other dealers) out there. Paying by check gets you the best price, but the tradeoff is a turnaround time of 12-14 days. Paying with credit card/PayPal I've had deliveries in 2 days of an order.
Painful experience with JMB
I typically have used Provident Metals and always with good success. But the free shipping offer by JM Bullion caused me to give them a try. Mistake. I placed an order with JM Bullion on 13 Sep. They didn't ship until 24 Sep. Sometime after 2:12am on 26 Sep the package disappeared. Thus began the saga. Took four calls and over an hour on hold to get a claim started. I had to provide all the shipping details (I wasn't the shipper), a police report if requested (it wasn't stolen from my house - it disappeared while in possession of a federal agency), a signed declaration, a search form, and contact the local post office and file a lost package case. Finally received my order on 25 Nov, over 70 days after placing the original order. After all the hassle, JMB had promised to sweeten the order with some discount coupons. Didn't happen.
Low value customer relations
I spent $900 at JM Bullion over the bast thirty days. When I developed what should have been a minor issue ($35), I found their online customer service support lacking. The persons answering the emails answered quickly but were never able to offer any meaningful solutions. When I suggested they were risking losing my business over $35, I was told to call a 1-800 number.
In general, I have found the JM Bullion catalog to be good, although don't be fooled by the "free shipping." You have to do the math comparing the price of the same product from door-to-door. There's a reason JM Bullion's prices are usually higher. JM Bullion may be a good retailer for persons spending $100-$250, but almost never beyond that.
JM Bullion has my $35. Provident Metals and SD Bullion have my business.
I really like JM
I really like dealing with JM. They have the fastest turnover time of any dealer I've bought from. I don't think I've ever waited more than 5 days for an order. they also have excellent customer service. the only thing that keeps me from giving a 5-star review is that their prices are slightly higher than some of the other dealers, though still competitive enough to keep me interested, in part because of their low deliver fees which keeps the grand total down.
Jury still out
I have ordered silver and gold coins from at least five different dealers. Most were very quick to acknowledge my order, and ship it. Not so with JM Bullion. They have had my money for over three weeks and just today say they've sent my order. They told me to give them 10 days for the money to clear which is excessive time from my experience, but they even take longer. I'll feel better when I actually have my order, but I will never use them again.
